An Update on North Korean Orphans
We all know that North Korea is a country where everyone is at risk, and where religious freedom is nonexistent. The government does little to help its own people and actively works to oppress them. But among them, North Korean orphans, or kotjebi, are among the most vulnerable. Under current conditions there is little chance for escape, but there are those working to rescue and resettle these children.
Come hear from a North Korean orphan that escaped to South Korea as well as a North Korean defector working on rescuing and resettling orphans and other escapees. Following their testimonies, these speakers will participate in a discussion on the current situation in North Korea and what can be done to help North Korean orphans and refugees.
This event is sponsored by the Isabella Foundation, a public charity focused on rescuing and resettling North Korean orphans, the North Korea Freedom Coalition, Christian Freedom International, and Family Research Council.
The event is part of North Korea Freedom Week, an annual series of events alternating between Washington, D.C. and Seoul. This year’s theme focuses attention on what the defectors are telling us about the reality of North Korea.
